sugar and stripes and everything nice

Obligatory apology for the lateness of my post here :P

I was so proud of my cake pop creations, I of course had to do a mini photo shoot complete with peace signs to immortalize them forever!  I saved myself the chimera red velvet/white cake pops for after the birthday party because I knew they’d disappear among the guests before I could have one.  The bf was so lucky that he chomped into it right smack in the middle so I could photograph the cross section displaying both types of cake hehe

This was before a night in with some buddies, and I chose a really easy to pull together but totally fun look.  I’m wearing a striped bodycon skirt, loose fitting, crochet trim top and ankle boots.  Fun, easy, cute and just what I like in a low key outfit.

fur fringe frenzy

Gap sweater, F21 jeans, faux fur shawl c/o Scarves.Net, Aldo wedge booties, Express & Aldo jewelry

My default chic outfit: fitted sweater, skinnies and cute shoes.  In general, I like to dress simply and spice up with some wOw factor — in this case, the faux fur shawl from Scarves.Net and my Aldo booties do the trick!  I’m wearing some of my favorite pieces here.  I reallllyyy like this beige sweater from Gap.  I really like the fit and color, and especially love the cinching detail around the sleeves and waist.  AND I LOVEEEE my Aldo wedge booties aka Isabel Marant Amely lookalikes x)  They were my Xmas present from my sister and they’re so freaking chic, I can’t even stand it.  Great color, and the mix of leather and suede is SEEEXY.  Definitely not your average wedge bootie.

You know how much I love the faux fur shawl from my previous post about Scarves.Net.  The fur trim and fringe add a lot of fun and texture to an otherwise simple outfit.  My Victoria Faux Fur shawl from Scarves.Net definitely gave the extra depth and detailing and made the outfit as chic as it was.  I wore this outfit to a Sharks hockey game a while back and this shawl kept me cozy and warm in the rink!  I’m all about fashionable and practical :)

Also, don’t forget that tomorrow is the last day to enter my Scarves.Net gift card giveaway!  You can find my product review and details on the giveaway here.

rainy day basics

H&M trench coat, Express cardigan, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Bakers boots, Burberry handbag, random scarf

It’s been uncharacteristically rainy the past week for Norcal, although we’re on a 2 day break it seems.  My go-to chilly day outfit absolutely includes my FAVORITE trench coat from H&M.  The bf bought it for me from his super lucky Vegas winnings in November and I LOVE it!  I sort of consider it my lucky trench :)  Great story, even greater fit.  I’ve lusted over Burberry trenches for years, but the bf gave me my first real push to getting my own.  I was initially hesitant about wearing it and if I pulled off the trench coat look, but now I seriously can’t stop.  It goes with everything!  And the beige looks so great with my Burberry sooo… win win!

My default rainy day/chilly day outfit usually consists of my trench or A&F furry bomber + sweater + boots + scarf.  Easy, comfortable and warm!  I’ve been switching between three pairs of boots lately, and these buckled flat Bakers boots have been making a regular appearance.  I love the buckle and the structure, they make me feel like a pirate! ARRRRRR!  So there ya go, my rainy day basics.

draped in moto

I would describe my style as simple, feminine and clean.  Especially with outerwear, I love basic and super wearable pieces that drape well and flatter my shape.  I’ve been looking for a jacket to transition from winter to spring, something lightweight and good with layering thick and thin layers.  What great timing that I was given the awesome opportunity to work with Secret Krush Corner!  They’re a Northern California online retailer (whoo hoo, go SF!) that offers trendy and affordable women’s clothing.  Their ideal customer, the SKC Woman, is “hard working, but knows how to balance life with some fun. Their style is confident, daring, and pushes the limits on everyday fashion.”  I’d say that fits me and all you readers pretty well!

I was so lucky to get to choose any piece from Secret Krush Corner’s awesome selection to try out for myself.  They have a great selection of women’s dresses, tops, skirts, bottoms and outwear and specialize in dresses.  As I was in the market for a lightweight jacket, I was immediately drawn to their Crop Moto Fit Jacket.  I like the cut of moto and bomber jackets, and already have a faux leather version which can be a little heavy or bulky.

I loved that SKC’s Crop Moto Fit Jacket was a knit lightweight jacket with the traditional features of a motorcycle jacket like the off-center front zipper, elbow ridges and the stand collar.  Seriously, the pictures on the website do not do this jacket justice.  It is so much more adorable in person.  I love how this jacket looks unzipped!  It’s just the most perfect drape and I liked mixing up the layering with a long tank underneath and a shorter cropped hot pink sweater vest.

I’m just totally in love with this jacket!  Like I said, it’s way way more perfect in person.  It’s incredibly soft, has that great effortless slouchiness I’m obsessed with and my favorite parts are the exposed zippers on the collar bone area and military style epaulet snaps.  It really was a surprising amount of subtle details on what looked to be a very basic crop moto jacket.  Love!

And to give you all a chance at some SKC goodies, SKC is giving my readers a special discount from now through April 2012!

  • FloatingOnDreams1” for 20% off all regular priced items.
  • DreamJacket1” for 25% off of the Crop Moto Fit Jacket featured here!

I had such a great experience with Secret Krush Corner and I’m in love with their beautiful moto jacket.  I can’t stop wearing this jacket and you’ll definitely be seeing it more often in my outfits.  Check out Secret Krush Corner to take advantage of this great discount and try out their gorgeous pieces yourself.  I’m really looking forward to their upcoming Spring Collection and what Spring will bring!
